Presidents Game

n Sunday 24th Aug The Elephants Nest Inn held their annual Presidents game. Having lost the trophy for the last two years the cricket club were keen to win it back and after losing the toss they made a good start bowling in overcast conditions. The Presidents team relied heavily on Will Simpson (40) and Ross Cherrington (22) but could not build on this and finished with 95 for 7 off 25 overs. Abergavenny Tour 2015

The Elephants Nest Cricket Club set off to Abergavenny in Wales, for their annual tour, on the last bank holiday weekend in May. The first game was against Michealchurch Escley on their picturesque ground.

On Saturday 29th June the The Elephants Nest is holding a fete. There will be a family friendly dog show, bouncy castle, BBQ, sweet stand, real ale, cake stall & ferret racing to name a few events happening through the day. ALL proceeds will be divided between a charity & The Elephants Nest Cricket Club. Presidents Day 2012

n Sunday 26th Aug the annual president’s game took place at The Elephant’s Nest Inn at Horndon, with the President’s team trying to win the magnificent trophy (on display in the dining room) for the first time in 5 years from the pubs cricket team. After captain for the pub’s team Corrin Russell lost the toss the Nest were put into bat on a very wet wicket, openers Chris Miller (14) and Tim Neale made a solid start before the presidents star bowler David Cherrington(8-0-25-3) took the first couple wickets. This brought the Nest s most prized wicket of Ian Gray to the crease with Pete Wilson(14), fresh from a fifty the previous day, he came in and rescued the Nest’s innings by dispatching the bad balls and keeping a watchful eye on the good ones.
